As GTM Strategy and Business Development Manager, Sumit ensures that the company’s North American Automotive OEM and Tier 1 customers are successfully maximizing their VCollab investment. Additionally, Sumit manages strategic resellers globally helping them to serve their customers to the best of their capabilities. Let’s learn a little more about Sumit with four quick questions.
Hi Sumit. Can you tell us a little about yourself?
Well, I got married this year and am looking forward to the next phase of life and hope it is as exciting I envision it to be. I’m a mechanical engineer turned business guy – I completed engineering and moved to the United States where I earned my MBA from Emory University, Atlanta in 2020.
I began my professional career as a Technology Consultant with Tata Technologies where I helped clients resolve technology and business problems. As a problem solver, I switched to sales and managed key accounts across the West India region where I managed a business vertical for the company’s Technology Solution Group. After moving to the United States, I had a stint with Dassault Systemes where I developed a tool to quantify the business value of Simulia solutions for various industries.
So, what other careers did you consider while growing up?
I’ve always been into sports and had a chance to represent my university at Inter-university Badminton nationals. I was seriously considering going all in into Badminton but then life had other plans and I fell in love with business ha-ha. I still try to hold the badminton racket from time to time but it’s nothing serious anymore.
What do you enjoy most about working at VCollab?
We are a quickly growing company and it presents a variety of challenges to keep pace. Solving these business problems is a perfect platform for me to exercise all the skills I learnt at business school and from my experience. Secondly, you get autonomy at VCollab, you see an opportunity to improve something – no one is going to stop you from doing it better. This provides opportunities to lead projects beyond my designation at times, which in turn helps me in keep growing as a professional.
Thank you for your time today, Sumit. OK, last question. What do you enjoy doing away from work?
I enjoy playing badminton and watching and playing tennis. I enjoy hiking and plan to take every hike out there and I recently got into F1 (Watch drive to survive if you haven’t yet). I am a sucker for nature, hiking narrows/angel’s landing at Zion National Park and scuba diving in Dos Ojos Cenote in Tulum, Mexico are somewhere at the top.
